Big Data and Analytics : Opening the Frontiers of Digital Transformation

By

The impact of large volume, unstructured data known as “big data” is very high; holding the potential to transform the business, enterprises and experience of customers. By 2020 Big Data will be a key differentiator for new business, improved and heightened customer relationship, better knowledge and experience, improved operational efficiency and revenue growth. Organizations will have to act proactively to this heightened customer expectation rather than being mere reactive.

Big Data and Analytics is the key for protecting and extending existing businesses and creating new services relying on two things: Technology Push and Market Pull. The first one represents proliferation of smart sensors, smart devices, apps and Internet of Things leading to data volume doubling every two years, combination of data analytics with system and sensor understanding, and new software and hardware architectures enabling massive data processing. On the other hand the second factor takes into account the rising customer expectations, competitors’ mergers and acquisitions yielding tangible offerings along with new business models.

Big Data may be a relatively new addition to the language of Business Technology but practically, Atos has spent 40 years combining process and IT knowledge to help its clients gain insights into their own operations and opportunities. Our end-to-end Big Data and Analytics services across the project lifecycle span Advisory Services, Strategy and Transformation Services, Insights, and the delivery of Big Data platforms.

Atos is a global force in Big Data Analytics, providing both consulting and unique high performance platforms for Big Data analytics and complete operation services, also in cloud mode. In addition, Atos is an experienced navigator in the world of regulation and compliance, and it mitigates the associated legal risk in Big Data projects and the potential reputational damage which can follow when insufficient attention is paid to this critical area.

Atos’s Customized Solutions and Capabilities

Analytics is fundamental to what Atos does. It is a core component of its strategic approach and most service offers are driven by real-time data flows, delivering immediate access to actionable intelligence.

Atos follows a threefold approach, namely Enterprise Analytics, Consumer Analytics and Vertical & Industry Specific Analytics where priority is given to three specializations:

• Process optimization and improved operational efficiency through automated use of real-time data, intelligence, monitoring and analytics

• Better decision-making, enabled by customized business intelligence solutions

• Practical application of innovations and disruptive technology, driven by analytics

The capabilities at Atos are organized against key areas of business needs, starting with decision-support and moving onto embedded analytics, where the ability to gather and manage data flows from machinery and systems in vast quantities is particularly important.

Big Data Levers for Enterprises to be Future Ready

Atos sees three streams converging to create an ecosystem in which the ability to derive new and actionable intelligence through Big Data becomes possible. Firstly, the separate strands of Enterprise Information Management (EIM) - Business Intelligence, Data Mining, Enterprise Content Management, Decision Support Systems and others are coming together. Secondly, the convergence of these technologies and processes is deeply influenced by Cloud and Virtualization and last but not the least is Regulation and Compliance, which determines where data must reside and how it can be used and protected.

Atos’s approach to data analytics is completely consistent with its Business Technologist positioning. The unique Atos proposition lies in:

• A combination of Innovation focused on practical, measurable outcomes
• Pervasive use of analytics enabled by Atos Global Scientific Community and leading external Universities
• Dedicated support, focused innovation teams and an analytics competence centre in India
• Strong focus on innovation and combination of consistent global delivery and local presence enabling highly effective collaboration
