Nvidia declared a significant extension of its joint effort with BYD and other Chinese electric vehicle producers to improve independent AI-boosted vehicles. The move extends Nvidia's associations with the Chinese EV industry even as it is independently disallowed by the US from trading its most remarkable AI hardware to China.

BYD, which beat Elon Musk's Tesla in deals in the previous quarter of 2023, is the furthest down-the-line Chinese auto firm to utilize Nvidia's DRIVE Thor. Strong generative AI features support this all-in-one vehicle control framework.

"Today we're announcing that BYD, the world's largest EV company, is adopting our next-generation (AV computer)," Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said at a developers conference.

Nvidia said other significant Chinese EV firms, including XPeng, Li Auto, ZEEKR and GAC Aion, have additionally taken on the Thor stage, first reported in 2022.

"DRIVE Thor is poised to revolutionize the automotive landscape, ushering in an era where generative AI defines the driving experience," Nvidia added.

The firm added BYD will also utilize Nvidia's infrastructure for "cloud-based AI development and training technologies".
