As per managing director Amit Sarin, Delhi-based Anant Raj Limited intends to create 300 MW data center facilities with a total expenditure of 10,000 crore over the coming several years. The business is currently converting three IT facilities it previously built into data centers in the Haryana cities of Manesar, Rai, and Panchkula.

"The three projects possess the potential to accommodate 300 MW of data, and we benefit from having pre-existing structures that simply need to be adapted to meet the specifications essential for a data centre. The initial phase of Manesar Park is ready with a 21 MW capacity, and the complete project is designed for a total capacity of 50 MW," said Sarin.

Within the next four to five years, significant cities are expected to have a demand for around 20 million square feet of data center space, according to industry analysts. Anant Raj now owns 1.2 million square feet on a 10-acre property in Manesar, 2.1 million square feet on a 25-acre plot in Rai (with the potential to double capacity), and 500,000 square feet on a 10-acre tract in Panchkula (with the potential for development).

"In Manesar, we have the potential to reach 50 MW, while Rai can accommodate a 200 MW data centre. Additionally, Panchkula can support a 50 MW data centre. We've initiated the process with Manesar and plan to proceed with converting other buildings based on market demand," said Sarin.

Industry analysts estimate that a megawatt of data center capacity costs between 55 and 60 crore. Anant Raj, on the other hand, is doing it for 25 crore per MW while profiting from its long-standing land holdings and current building infrastructure.
