According to the regional administration, Uzbekistan has begun its first artificial rain technology testing in the Kenimekh district of the Navoi region. The program, led by district governor Ruslan Ruzayev, is a component of larger initiatives to address chronic issues that have severely hindered cattle husbandry in the area, including water scarcity, ongoing drought, and insufficient rainfall.
A foster innovation solution to environmental and agricultural issues has been provided by the first-ever deployment of a high-tech device and AI systems in the region that can create precipitation. The International Center of Climate Change Technologies, a climate and innovation company based in Kazakhstan, is working with the project. In order to promote sustainable cattle development and increase pasture regeneration, artificially produced rainfall is being used to target arid pastures.
This technique makes it possible to control atmospheric conditions in order to produce rain and clouds. The strategic significance of this breakthrough in addressing the region's drought conditions has been underlined by the administration. The action is in line with Uzbekistan's larger environmental goals. Uzbekkosmos (Uzspace) reported in 2024 that 35 hectares of desert vegetation in the Bukhara and Navoi regions had degraded, a trend associated with increased sand movement and climatic change. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev responded by urging a comprehensive plan to increase the amount of green space in desert and semi-arid regions.
