Hesa, rural technology start-up, on Wednesday announced it has acquired Pune-based digital market-tech platform GullyBuy for an undisclosed sum.
Hesa mentioned that the acquisition will strengthen its presence in rural geographies and empower village level entrepreneurs to manage their last mile e-commerce capabilities to improve the shopping experience for end consumers, it added.
It said the acquisition of GullyBuy’s software and IP, which simplifies local shopping experience through a digital marketplace that directly connects buyers and stores in the neighbourhood (gullies), will help it add last-mile sales capabilities to its platform, Hesa said.
Hesa’s founder & CEO Vamsi Udayagiri said: “GullyBuy’s mobile first technology is aligned with Hesa’s vision of curating unique solutions for rural India. As India’s largest tech integrated marketplace that enables ease of commerce in rural India, the IP and software acquisition of GullyBuy, will enable Hesa to execute and manage large scale operations.”
