Nokia Signs Multi-year 5G Patent Deal with Vivo

Finnish telecom gear creator Nokia marked a worldwide long term patent cross-permitting manage Chinese cell phone manufacturer Vivo. Standard essential patents in 5G and other cellular communication technologies are included in the deal. A week earlier, Nokia and Vivo's rival Oppo reached a similar agreement, putting an end to legal battles that prevented both smartphone brands from selling their products in Germany and France.
 
The terms of the agreement between Nokia and Vivo were not disclosed, as per economic times.
 
"By concluding the licensing agreement with Vivo, it demonstrates Nokia's significant contribution to key technologies in the smartphone industry and it will provide long-term stability to our licensing business for years to come," said Jenni Lukander, president of Nokia Technologies, in a statement.
 
This is Nokia's 6th major cell phone patent permit understanding in the beyond 13 months after Apple, Samsung, Oppo, Honor, and Huawei. Nokia said it will begin perceiving net deals from this understanding, including make up for lost time installments covering the times of non-installment, from the Walk quarter.
 
"Signing the agreement reflects the mutual recognition and respect for each other's patent value in cellular technology, and also plays a significant role in fostering a positive development environment within the industry. Vivo consistently places a high value on building and accumulating intellectual property," Xianwen Xu, general manager of the legal affairs department at Vivo, said in a statement.
 
Vivo added that it has devoted huge assets to Research and development in 5G innovation and set up a thorough worldwide IP portfolio.
