Infosys fellow benefactor Kris Gopalakrishnan said legislatures and strategy creators need to help areas that produce abundance and business. At the Bengaluru Games, Animation, and Visual FX Conference (GAFX) 2024, the chairman of Axilor Ventures was participating in a fireside chat with JetSynthesis CEO Rajan Navani, an executive from the media and gaming company.

“Governments need to provide incentives to attract investments to states in the competitive environment…companies need a reason to, say, invest in Karnataka over any other state,” said Gopalakrishnan, who is also the Chairman Emeritus of JetSynthesis.

Governments, he added, needed to come up with skilling policies to increase employability as well. The Karnataka government released a draft AVGC-XR (animation, visual effects, gaming & comics) policy in the Bengaluru Tech Summit in November last year, with a focus on skilling, as per economic times.

“Everyone has a role to play in these disruptive changes that are happening because of new technologies, from governments, to investors, to individuals,” Gopalakrishnan added. Industries, he said, have to work with governments to create ecosystems in any sector.

“One of the advantages of this sector is that products can go to every nook and corner of the country, because content is everywhere,” he said. Events like the GAFX, he added, encourage youth and tell them that there is a possible career here.

A significant explanation for games penetrating to each edge of the nation was the shift to portable gaming, said Rajan. “While the sector has been around for 50 years, earlier games were played on consoles and PCs, which meant one would have to actually buy equipment to play them,” he said. With information rates being among the least in India, alongside simple accessibility of content, the nation currently had significantly more buyers, he added.
