Bharti Airtel recorded the largest quarter-on-quarter increase of 10.9% at Rs 24,632.84 crore. Reliance Jio’s revenue increased by 2.2% to Rs 27,652.68 crore, while Vodafone Idea saw a 7.8% rise to Rs 7,836.98 crore. Analysts indicate this was Vi's initial adjusted gross revenue (AGR) increase after multiple quarters, sparking optimism that the toughest times might be behind the ailing telco, which has received support from a Rs24,000 crore equity fundraising.

The telecom sector experienced a sequential growth of 6.75% in AGR at Rs 75,310 crore during the September quarter, driven by tariff hikes and strong data consumption, surpassing modest subscriber growth, according to data published by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Wednesday. Every operator noted an increase in AGR throughout the quarter.

The government-operated Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd achieved a 4.77% increase in AGR, reaching Rs 1,996.77 crore in the second quarter of the fiscal year. The telecom company - which refrained from increasing prices like its competitors in the private sector - has gained subscribers in recent months from Jio, Airtel, and Vi.

In general, the telecom sector's AGR rose by 13.11% compared to the previous year. The government's revenue from licence fees reached Rs 6,023 crore in the September quarter. Increased quarterly AGR resulted in higher collections of licence fees and spectrum usage charges (SUC) for the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). According to TRAI data, the collection of licence fees increased by 6.69% sequentially to Rs 6,023 crore, while SUC collections saw an 8.37% rise on a quarter-on-quarter basis, reaching Rs 946 crore.
