As per a recent report by Centrum, the major telecom operators in India are anticipated to report a 5 to 6.5 percent QoQ surge in average revenue per user (ARPU) in their upcoming Q3FY25 results.
The report stated that this development is credited to the tariff hike which is implemented by the organizations in July 2024. It said "The three telecom operators are expected to report 5 to 6.5 per cent QoQ increase in ARPU led by July'2024 tariff hike".
The report suggested that the impact of SIM consolidation, which occurred following the tariff hike, is expected to subside by the third quarter of FY25. The report also highlighted the further developing valuing climate in the telecom industry at present which is overwhelmed by 3 key parts as well as one more modest administrator.
The July 2024 tariff hike by all three big telecom players mirrors a change in focus towards enhancing average revenue per user for enhancing the overall return on capital employed (ROCE).
Furthermore, surging digital penetrations as well as widespread adoption of the 4G services are anticipated to buttress the internet-based organizations’ performance. The accentuation of this industry has moved toward profitability since operators are looking to capitalizing on surging digital adoption.
Reliance Jio is expected to lose upto 2 million subscribers QoQ, while Bharti Airtel is anticipated to acquire approximately 3 million subscribers over the same period, among the top players. Conversely, Vodafone Idea (VIL) is expected to lose almost 4 million clients QoQ, highlighting its continued struggle for retaining its subscriber base.
The report said, "Reliance Jio is expected to lose around 2mn subscribers QoQ; while Bharti Airtel is expected to add around 3mn subscribers QoQ".
