Arowana Consulting: Traversing the Complete Cycle from User Experience to Implementation

By

Gartner reports suggest that on-premise ERP market in India is expected to touch $538 million by 2017, growing at a CAGR of 17 per cent. While most organizations are looking at touching every vertical even with average offerings, Arowana Consulting, headquartered in Bangalore, aims at covering a few segments but providing above par solutions by applying its extensive expertise in specific sectors. One of these areas is the aviation sector. Arowana has developed a web based application which facilitates the management of Staff Travel needs of airlines, known as DART (Duty and Recreation Travel). “We have a product implementation team which formalizes the product roadmap and we have periodic releases being done as and when new features need to be added including providing a mobility interface to the web based solution.” says Sudip Das, Vice President Global Delivery, Arowana Consulting.

Arowana’s Bangalore Centre of Excellence is home to development teams concentrating on Application Development & Management, Mobile Application Development, Oracle Technologies, Microsoft Practice and Java Development Practice. The Oracle Center of Excellence based in Bangalore focuses on EBS (Oracle E-BIZ Suite) with regards to Finance, HRMS, and SCM. In addition, the company has a sister unit called Arowana Studios which is in-charge of user experience. Arowana Studios takes care of the front end part while Arowana Consulting is responsible for the back end part. This makes Arowana a one stop shop for its clients when it comes to multi-channel offering. A testimony of Arowana’s expertise is best described by Nazneen Gagrat, GM of Alliances & Business Excellence at Jet airways. “The Journeys system has made life so much simpler when issuing staff travel tickets on 9W. The product you have developed for us is comparable to some of the best staff travel systems out there. And most importantly, the Arowana team has always been very customer centric and worked with us in making our vision come to life,” she concludes.

Arowana derives most of its Business Intelligence data points from the data that resides within the system and advises clients based on predictive analytics to provide them different models on which they finalize their offering and fine tune their performance. In this way, while reducing the total cost of ownership, the clients also ensure that they have a good ROI.

For the aviation industry, Arowana’s flagship product, DART, uses a booking engine which is designed using SOA based architecture. DART leverages web service calls to carry out live air bookings and search for flight schedules and availability. The application is driven by aRules Engine which manages the entitlements and workflow making it robust and at the same time it is flexible to manage. DART integrates with most reservations systems like Amadeus, SABRE and supports multiple payments methods while ensuring PCI compliance. The achievements of Arowana Consulting in this domain can be attributed to its deep subject matter expertise on the aviation industry and being an active member of IATA. Moving ahead, the company is investing heavily on ecommerce and business intelligence and also aims at becoming the go-to-service provider in the aviation sector.
