Owing to these complexities, the government is committed to ensure that the policies governing information flow addresses the issues interconnectivity, data integration, and content management metadata and e-services access. One of the major requirements of e governance is interoperability standards for the exchange of secure information with non-repudiation. Hence, there is a great need of a well-defined interoperability policy for e-government architecture. Interoperability is necessary for the delivery of citizen-centric solutions and due to lack of interoperability and standards in e-governance services one is not able to utilize the service from various levels. Interoperability requires open standards. Standardization efforts have helped in simplification of business processes and can also help in governance processes.
