Mobilizing the Enterprise - The App-ocalpyse is here

By

Enterprise Mobility is a reality today, be it either taking Skype conference calls on the move or like how one of my colleagues had to finish an article on his mobile while on a train owing to time constraints. Perhaps the largest hurdle knocking on the door of IT departments are the specific mobile apps to build, the complexities to be handled and deploying the same in areas of the organization where it can increase employee efficiencies without turning into an extra burden for the CIO. With the mobility landscape so varied owing to issues ranging from traditional off the shelf applications ,custom apps , mobile apps and recently, HTML5 and cloud software, the CIO has his hands full.

A recent research conducted by Apperian shows us that instead of waiting for employees to take up app adoption, those most satisfied are far more likely to promote apps internally, selling the app to the organization and letting employees know ‘there’s an app for that’. Hence the more satisfied the employees, the more likely they are to offer corporate app stores that let users discover internally developed apps as well as third-party apps used by other workers, which also empowers users to offer feedback through reviews and ratings.

As more and more companies turn to apps to improve business mobility, 67 per cent cited security as the top challenge to achieving their goals. Hence. Apart from the glaring problem of security, many of the CIOs are on the lookout for increase in efficiency of integration with legacy applications, having measured rollouts with focus on business benefits and to ensure stakeholder Buy- and increase adoption with experts onto the tasks, instead of the in-house IT teams.

Taking all of these factors into consideration, we have put in close to a year’s research to bring to you our 20 most promising enterprise mobility companies of 2015.
