By

In conversation with Jitendra Somani, CEO of Sage Software. The company is headquartered in Gurgaon which offers a wide range of cloud and on- premise Business Application Software with Sage 300 ERP, Sage ERP X3, Sage CRM and Sage Pocket Payroll and HRMS.

1) How do you see the current market of Enterprise Resource Planning solutions? How is Sage Software positioned in this market?

Sage is global leader in providing ERP, CRM, HCM and other business solutions to SME and Mid-sized enterprises, I am excited about the future of ERP/CRM in general and Sage in particular over next couple of years considering this is revival of Business cycle and positive outlook about future. Sage believes in freedom of choice and has a distinction of having a wide range of cloud and on premise business application software catering to small, medium and enterprise customers with Sage 300 ERP, Sage ERP X3, Sage CRM and Sage Pocket Payroll and HRMS.

2) How does Sage ERP X3 help enterprises integrate their business processes into one common system?

Today Manufacturing companies are gearing up to scale up their operations, new industrial corridors are being made, Global manufacturing companies are entering in India and our policies are being drafted for being a “Manufacturing friendly” economy. Sage ERP X3 is a proven solution for manufacturing and distribution vertical serving more than 12000 customers globally. Sage ERP X3 gives management one unified view of their key business performance indicators anywhere, anytime on any device making decision making fast.

3) How does Sage ERP X3 increase user productivity and accelerate adoption with an intuitive web user interface?

Key of Sage ERP X3 V7 is user experience, we understand that today user does not want to get into typical complex ERP systems navigating hundreds of screens, menus to get the information they are looking for. Today’s executive need information as and when they want, anywhere they are in and any device they are using with just few clicks and swipes. That’s where complete web-based and dashboard driven responsive interface comes as life saver, you do not need to search for the information you are looking for, it should be available to you in easy and user friendly manner. Also the information needed by different people is different in nature, for example you could be CFO and you would be interested in overall receivables, cash-flows, key financial indicators OR you could be sales person on move looking forward to see your collections, your opportunities, order status of your customers. That’s where personalized dashboards come handy, information is sent to you in realtime, anywhere, anytime and on any device making you aware of the business information relevant for you.

4) How does Sage ERP X3 help enterprises increase their capacity, implement new processes and expand to new geographies?

Sage ERP X3 is designed to be a flexible ERP system, Forward-thinking small and midsized businesses have an opportunity to choose a new ERP solution that will take their business to the next level. They need a solution that is agile to scale and can help them: make the most of business opportunities, gain new customers, and get more done in less time. Typically when an organization grew their business to multiple geographies they keep on adding different systems relevant to that particular geography and end up accumulating a lot of data which cannot be consolidated for global decision making, I call these isolated islands of information, which you have but you do not know how to consolidate. Sage ERP X3 allows you to have one Global view of your entire data, you are sitting in India and want to check inventory levels of your China office, or may be receivable information of your Hongkong operations OR want to have a complete order book of all your Geo locations, with centralized system like Sage ERP X3, you get unified as well as regional view of your business allowing you to expand your business in more geographies with ease.

5) How would you compare Sage with its competitors in this segment? What are the major differentiating factors which set your company apart from them?

Sage globally is an active advocate of use of technology by small and mid-sized businesses, we are committed to serve our target niche segment of small and medium businesses; I do understand that many times term Mid-sized business is interpreted differently by different people. For us, mid-size business is a growing business which has aspiration to grow their business to the next level. Our solutions offer robust functionality, greater flexibility at reasonable investment. We understand that India is market is very sensitive to pricing of the ERP solutions and I am confident that with our pricing strategies small and mid-sized enterprises will find us highly affordable. We also take the direct responsibility of getting the implementation streamlined for our customers either through our partners or our Professional Services Group. Our USP and differentiation is been bringing best in class global solutions at highly affordable prices with a strong and quick implementation cycle and processes for small and mid-sized businesses in India

6) Where do you see this market in the near future? What is the future road map for the company?
Last couples of decades were the phase of building up and consolidation of the market of software in terms of accounting and payroll where the SME customers graduated from cashbooks to computerized accounting while large enterprise used bulky ERP systems. The next wave would be a phase where SMB market would slowly rise above small accounting systems and would start looking to integrate and bring efficiencies to the entire enterprise specially looking at inventory, customer relationship, supply chain management and analytics by using new technology like cloud computing and mobile devices while medium enterprises would replace bulky systems with more nimble and effective ERP systems. Sage being a leader in SME market worldwide would be a major beneficiary in this upward shift of SME. In India, we have offices in Mumbai, NCR, Bangalore, Chennai and we are planning to grow to 10+ cities geographically as well as using convergence tools to get more closer to the customers, partners and prospect. We will continue to bring the latest and greatest in terms of technology by Sage to India for our aspiring customers.
