| | MAY 20259on Wednesday, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) introduced cutting-edge chip technology designed to enhance speed and efficiency, particularly for artificial intelligence applications. The company announced the 2028 debut of a new production process for the A14 chip, which it claims will offer chips 15% faster than the N2 chips slated to begin production later this year, all at equivalent power levels. An alternative would be for the A14 chips to work at the N2s' clock rate at a power level that is 30% less.As the world's leading contract chipmaker, TSMC whose clients include NVidia and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) also unveiled a new packaging innovation called "System on Wafer-X." It is a working platform that will integrate, at the very least, 16 large computing chips with memory chips, high-speed optical interconnections, and advanced power delivery technology capable of supporting thousands of watts. These components will be packaged together to form a package approximately the size of a dinner plate. This platform will integrate at least 16 of its large computing chips along with memory chips, high-speed optical interconnections, and advanced power delivery technology that is capable of supporting thousands of watts. These will be packaged to sizes that are about the size of a dinner plate. To support this initiative, TSMC plans to construct two new facilities near its existing Arizona-based chip plants.Meanwhile, Intel is preparing to unveil its own advancements in manufacturing technology next week. Last year, Intel asserted that it would surpass TSMC in the race to produce the world's fastest chips. As demand surges for large-scale AI chips assembled into unified packages, the competition between TSMC and Intel is passing from the onset of chip making into integration, which is inherently technical and requires working deep with the customers. Reddit introduced its AI-powered tool Reddit Answers to the Indian market on Thursday. The tool serves to boost user experience by letting users submit questions that produce summaries drawn from existing Reddit comments and postings. The feature spent its beta testing phase from December 2024 by allowing only selected user's access before expanding its availability.A new button on Reddit's homepage grants users access to Reddit Answers. Users can access the dedicated page via this button to interact with AI just as they do with ChatGPT or Perplexity through posing their questions. The programming of Reddit Answers enable user retention on the platform instead of sending them to Google or other external websites. For example, if a user asks, "What is the latest Bollywood gossip," the AI responds with a bullet-point list of recent Bollywood updates. In addition, it suggests relevant subreddits and related posts, helping users dive deeper into the topic. This format closely mirrors Google's AI Overview, which now appears atop some search results.Through AI integration Reddit aims to compete with traditional search engines specifically by improving its search functions. The tool stands out through its superior performance in handling intricate requests. Reddit formed a partnership with Google during the previous month to utilize Gemini AI which would improve search results and generate quicker intelligent search outputs. Reddit has achieved remarkable growth since Google started directing more users to its platform from its 100,000 communities along with 400 million weekly active users.Reddit CEO Steve Huffman, during an earnings call in October, highlighted the importance of search in the company's long-term vision, stating, "Search is a key part of the strategy," and noting that many users had been relying on Google to find Reddit content.Reddit continues to generate the most revenue in the United States yet the company aims to establish India as its next main growth territory. Since 2005 Reddit has operated without charging users for its services but the platform now develops plans to monetize by placing some content behind subscription walls.
