The MOU was signed by Maninder Pratap Singh Pawar, Inspector General (ICT), BSF and Prof Tarun Gupta, Dean of R&D at IIT-K in front of the BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary.IIT-K will address challenges identified by the BSF through R&D projects. The goal is to create homegrown drone solutions and improve cybersecurity by studying drones and sharing new technology. The partnership will also establish BSF laboratories and explore counter-UAV innovations.Prof. Raja Angamuthu, who is coordinating the project, emphasized IIT-K's aerospace expertise. This includes its runway, flight lab, wind tunnels, and India's first gust testing facility, which support both IIT-K and startup drone projects. Several drone technology startups have emerged from IIT-K.The collaboration will give BSF personnel access to the latest drone developments to improve operational efficiency. IIT-K will offer guest lectures at BSF facilities, hold basic and advanced drone technology courses, and provide consulting on drone use, technical advice, research-based problem-solving, and innovative suggestions. This partnership aims to enhance BSF's abilities through knowledge sharing and specialized project support. On August 19, 2025, OpenAI officially launched ChatGPT Go, a budget-friendly subscription option for users based in India at a price of Rs. 399 a month. ChatGPT Go is a plan based in India and utilizes GPT-5, allowing for more messages, image generation, local language support, file uploads, and memory capabilities. To aid in accessibility, users will be able to pay with UPI. OpenAI wants to reduce the cost of advanced AI, separate from its other ChatGPT Plus (Rs. 1,999/month) and ChatGPT Pro (Rs. 19,900/month) subscriptions.According to Nick Turley, OpenAI's Vice-President, one of the largest use case scenarios for ChatGPT in India is for learning, work and creative use cases.OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, stated that India has the potential to become OpenAI's biggest market, already experiencing big user growth on the platform and already integrating AI into their everyday lives and businesses. In 2024, Altman highlighted that Indian users have tripled their usage of the platform, emphasizing their importance as OpenAI's second-largest market. The launch will also support OpenAI's overall intersecting commitment to deliver products focused on India, as well as to provide local partnerships to aid in AI adoption in a more impactful way.Earlier this year, OpenAI announced local data storage for its ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Edu, and API platforms to meet India's data sovereignty requirements. This allows companies to take advantage of AI while being compliant with regulations and encouraging innovation. ChatGPT Go is in keeping with OpenAI's strategy to respond to India's growing need for AI tools and empower both users and businesses.
