Ohmium Partners with NTPC on Largest-Ever Deal For PEM Electrolyzers

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (REL), the renewable energy division of NTPC, India's largest power utility with more than 70 gigawatts (GW) of installed generation capacity, has chosen the India-based subsidiary of Ohmium International as its PEM electrolyzer partner. Ohmium International is a leading green hydrogen company that designs, manufactures, and deploys advanced Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzers. The agreement is in effect for a two-year term, ending in May 2025.

This green hydrogen opportunity represents one of the largest PEM electrolyzer deals ever made in India and around the globe. The unique electrolyzers from Ohmium are anticipated to be used in up to 400 megawatts (MW) of projects for a variety of industrial and commercial uses, including power, ammonia, transportation, and other fields.

As part of NTPC's ambitious plan to produce 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, Ohmium's technology is anticipated to assist NTPC in deploying 5 GW of renewable energy for green hydrogen and ammonia production. Interlocking modular electrolyzers from the company offer a compact and flexible solution that integrates with renewable energy sources and generates green hydrogen at a very affordable price.
