FREMONT, CA: Good news for Facebook users: if you are in the middle of a chat with your friend and you have some financial transactions to carry out with him/her, just relax, you don’t need to switch between apps, because payment option is now right their on your facebook messenger. Now you can send or receive payments through the new payment option and guess what, Facebook is not going to charge you for that, its free. The idea employed by the company is to keep the Facebook users hooked to the social networking site by bringing them refreshing options which weren’t there earlier. As the company makes huge amount of money from the advertisements, its main intent would be to bring new audience to its website while holding the existing audience tight so that more revenue is generated through ads. Bringing payment option at no additional charges is just a ripper! How do I pay through Facebook Messenger The user will soon have payment option in the form of a ‘$’ icon placed in the list of options in the Messenger message composer. The user needs to tap the $ icon and add the Visa or MasterCard debit card information – issued by a U.S. bank – to send money. Security is ensured through the option where users can create a PIN which provides an additional layer of security for future payments. The user can add another layer of authentication to the user account at any time. This payment service works equally well on iOS, Android, and desktop platforms. iOS users can also make use of Touch ID functionality. To receive the payment, the user needs to open the conversation from his/her friend – who sent the money – and tap ‘Add Card’ option in the message and add the debit card information to receive money for the first time. Though the money is transferred in a flash, it may still take on to three business days for the money to be in hand depending on the bank the user is dealing with (just like it is for any deposit.) This service which is soon going to be rolled out is available in the U.S. region only. But considering the global footprint of this massive social media company, it may sooner than later that it will bring its user friendly payment solution to other parts of the world as well.
