The state government join hands with information technology companies to skill youths and generate employment opportunities for them in the sector. The department of vocational education and skill development has chalked out a plan to collaborate with private companies like Tata Technologies, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, IBM, to assess domestic and global requirements and address the issue of employment guarantee after education.

The decision, said a government spokesperson, is aimed at enhancing the skills of youth from UP in accordance with market requirements.

He mentioned CM Yogi Adityanath has said students can become market ready only if they are trained directly by the industries in various sectors.

For starters, the IT department will collaborate with Tata Technologies to modernise 50 state ITIs as part of the 100-day plan. “The latest technology will be used for training in ITIs and modern equipment will be used for training youth. The department has also prepared a plan to provide training to 10,000 youths with assured employment in the IT sector with the help of companies like HCL Technologies among others. Students will also get an honorarium during on-job training,” the spokesperson mentioned.

Post the Covid-19 pandemic, the government is keen to promote the health sector, the spokesperson added and said that it is considering signing a contract with Tech Mahindra for customized training in new courses in the health sector.
