Intel and Amazon Web Services have announced a groundbreaking collaboration to power the next generation of cloud computing with Intel® Xeon® 6 processors. These processors, featuring Performance-cores (P-cores), drive the new Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) R8i and R8i-flex instances, delivering unparalleled performance and memory bandwidth for cloud workloads.
The Xeon 6 processors are designed to meet the growing demands of real-time data processing, artificial intelligence (AI), and compliance-heavy applications. With 2.5x more memory bandwidth and 15% better price performance than previous generations, these processors enable businesses to process complex workloads efficiently while reducing operational costs. Ronak Singhal, Senior Fellow at Intel, emphasized, "The launch of 8th Generation EC2 instances powered by Xeon 6 marks a milestone in cloud innovation, offering accelerated AI capabilities and simplified deployment for faster insights and stronger ROI."
This collaboration leverages Intel’s advanced silicon innovations and AWS’s optimized software stack to create a scalable, cost-efficient cloud infrastructure. The EC2 R8i and R8i-flex instances cater to diverse use cases, from AI-driven analytics to enterprise-grade databases, eliminating the need for specialized accelerators.
