A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the leader in construction and engineering, Larsen & Toubro, with the Norwegian company H2Carrier to explore projects including floating green hydrogen and green ammonia.

H2C is skilled at creating and integrating Power-to-X projects using inexpensive, frequently stranded, non-commercial renewable energy.

The Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Commissioning (EPCIC) of the topsides for H2C's floating process plants will be handled by L&T as a partner under the conditions of the Memorandum of Understanding.

L&T will design and construct the topside process and utility modules to manufacture green hydrogen and green ammonia, including electrolysers, a nitrogen generating plant, and an ammonia synthesis unit. H2C aims to have yards in Asia build the P2XFloater hull.

Installation of the topsides modules on the hull and their integration can be customised depending on the preferred location, i.e., done in India or elsewhere.

Subramanian Sarma, whole-time director and senior executive Vice President (Energy) at L&T said, "We are delighted to collaborate with H2C on their unique and novel P2XFloater design and we strongly believe that L&T, with its globally recognised expertise in Ammonia and Hydrogen production as well as vast experience in design & fabrication of complex process modules, is poised to be the ideal partner for H2C in this venture".

H2C CEO Marten Lunde said, "Our P2XFloater design represents a solution which addresses a number of concerns for renewable energy projects: costs, time, use of land and environmental footprint, lengthy planning and regulation processes etc. By teaming up with L&T, we have taken a significant step towards creating an optimal supply chain for delivering P2XFloaters on a large scale to projects anywhere in the world".

"We are excited by the markets' response to our P2XFloater, and through the collaboration with L&T, we are confident of being able to establish a high and reliable production capacity to serve our global customers," Lunde added.
