OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Go, a subscription plan specifically for Indian users that is affordable, at Rs 399 per month. Released August 19, 2025, ChatGPT Go provides advanced features powered by GPT-5, in addition to messaging limits, image creation, file uploads, chat memory, and support for Indian languages.
Payments are accessible also because payments can be made using UPI. OpenAI believes that ChatGPT Go is aimed at making advanced A.I. technology affordable and accessible for users in India. OpenAI also offers high noted ChatGPT Plus for Rs 1,999 per month, and ChatGPT Pro, at Rs 19,900 a month.

Nick Turley, OpenAI’s Vice-President, highlighted the plan’s alignment with India’s growing adoption of ChatGPT for learning, work and innovation. CEO Sam Altman noted India's potential as OpenAI's largest market, attributed to its rapid increase of users and the adoption of AI into everyday life and businesses.
Earlier in 2024, Altman shared that the number of Indian users had tripled, and OpenAI announced local data storage for their enterprise, education and API platforms to comply with India's data sovereignty laws, which allows businesses to effectively utilize AI.
