Critical infrastructure management solutions provider Opengear announces its first demonstration of its Failover to Cellular capabilities for ensuring the uninterrupted availability and connectivity of network-connected devices.

Failover to Cellular (F2C) allows for automatic Internet connectivity backup via high speed 4G LTE or 3G networks when the primary Internet link has failed.  Once disruption is eliminated, primary link connectivity is restored. The technology complements Opengear’s Smart OOB capability, which provides cellular-enabled remote management that automatically and proactively detects and helps resolve the issues that occur with distributed networks.

Opengear’s Failover to Cellular capabilities include:

-Transparent failover to 4G/3G cellular networks using simple and reliable IP Passthrough technology that allows business operations to continue while IT staff resolve connectivity issues with the primary Internet connection

-Maintaining console connectivity to routers, switches, firewalls, and PDU to troubleshoot problems

-Transparent “fail-back” when the primary connection is restored

-Ease of use: F2C is a drop-in solution which works with most existing routers that have dual WAN support.
