FREMONT, CA: Qualcomm Technologies expands the capacity of LTE networks by integrating LTE- U into a small cell System on Chip (SoC), FSM99xx. These SoC solutions bring together 3G and 4G technologies along with Qualcomm’s VIVE 802.11ac/n Wi-Fi to deliver greater performance and power efficiency through small cells.

Besides integrating cutting edge wireless technology into the SoC solution, the company also announces dedicated RF solution for small cells. These RF solutions cater to the demands of the LTE- U operation and network listen in unlicensed 5GHZ bands.

LTE-U is the LTE in the unlicensed spectrum (5GHZ bands) which will be leveraged by Qualcomm to empower communication service providers and operators with: improved channel usage, seamless user experience, greater capacity, and greater performance compared to LTE or Wi-Fi individually.

The company is also working on building a synergy between LTE and Wi-Fi by integrating them at the system level in a secured manner. With an objective to boost the user experience by a wide margin and empower carriers to better their operations and management, the innovations from Qualcomm are targeted on building a standards-driven, efficient communications environment.
