Raspberry Pi 2 with Greater Computing Power and Memory Launched

Raspberry Pi Foundation launches its latest computing platform, Raspberry Pi 2, which comes in a small form factor and has a decent processing power which can drive the entire spectrum of ARM GNU/Linux distributions including Snappy Ubuntu Core. Besides it also enables smooth functioning of Microsoft Windows 10.

Features of Raspberry Pi 2 include: a 9ooMHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU; 1GB LPDDR2 SDRAM. The group behind the Raspberry line of computing solutions says that this new computer comes with around 6 times greater performance, twice the RAM and is compatible with Raspberry Pi 1. The device uses VideoCore IV 3d graphics core for ARM-based SoCs.

Raspberry Pi Foundation develops single-board computers which it offers at lower price and presently it is in no mood to take on the computing industry bellwethers with regard to presenting more dynamic computing solutions and has a will to remain open source to boost innovation.

Flash issue – the flip side
The Raspberry Pi 2 just turns off when photographed. It may seem perplexing, but the company has acknowledged that it happens due to photoelectric effect: the device that regulates the processing power drives the core voltage to drop once it experiences flashes of high-intensity and long-wave light such as laser pointers or xenon flashes in cameras.

Liz Upton, Head of Communications, Raspberry Pi Foundation clarifies that other bright light or even camera flashes for that matter which use other technologies won’t cause the computer to turn off of.
