Humain, a Saudi Arabia-backed AI venture, has launched Humain Chat, a conversational AI application powered by the company’s Allam 34B large language model, touted as the most advanced in the Arab world. Unveiled by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Public Investment Fund (PIF) in May, the company aims to position itself as a global leader in AI technology.
The app, now available on web, iOS, and Android platforms, is initially launching in Saudi Arabia, with plans for a broader Middle East rollout and eventual global expansion.
Humain Chat leverages one of the world’s largest Arabic datasets, enabling robust features such as real-time web search, Arabic speech input across various dialects, seamless bilingual switching between Arabic and English, and conversation-sharing capabilities. The app is designed to comply fully with Saudi Arabia’s data protection laws, ensuring user data security. Built by a diverse team of 120 AI specialists based in Saudi Arabia, the chatbot reflects a commitment to technical excellence and cultural authenticity.

CEO Tareq Amin, previously with Rakuten Symphony, described the launch as “a historic milestone in our mission to build sovereign AI that is both technically advanced and culturally authentic.” He emphasized the significance of developing competitive technology rooted in Saudi Arabia’s language, infrastructure, and values, stating, “We are proving that globally competitive technologies can be rooted in our own language, infrastructure and values, built in Saudi Arabia by Saudi talent.”
Humain Chat will also grow and improve its functionalities through feedback by the audience. The increased emphasis of the company on sovereign AI development reflects the desire of Saudi Arabia to be a leader in the global AI market, remaining committed to using local talent and cultural focus.
