Sony Pictures Networks India Appoints Mukund Acharya as CTO

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has announced the appointment of Mukund Acharya as its new chief technology officer (CTO), starting June 19, 2025.

In his new position, Acharya will lead the company's unified technology portfolio, which includes the Enterprise Technology Group (ETG), LIV Technology, and Broadcast Operations and Network Engineering (B.O.N.E.).

He will lead SPNI's digital transformation efforts, promoting innovation and making sure that business objectives align with technology initiatives across both the network's linear and digital platforms.

With more than 29 years of experience in guiding technology teams and executing extensive transformations, Acharya offers profound knowledge in platform engineering, scalability, and product innovation.

He comes to SPNI from Disney+ Hotstar (Now JioStar), where he was the head of engineering. Throughout his time, he spearheaded various initiatives, such as the merger of JioCinema and Hotstar applications, along with the smooth execution of major events like the ICC World Cups in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

His previous experience encompasses senior technology leadership positions at Yahoo, InMobi, and various international firms.

Acharya will be accountable to Gaurav Banerjee, Managing Director and CEO of SPNI, and will collaborate closely with the Sony LIV leadership to aid in its forthcoming phase of platform development and expansion.
