To manage their daily business, Local kiranas hop on to digital bandwagon

Even though Flipkart and Amazon are eyeing for a slice of this market, local kiranas are hopping on to the digital bandwagon to manage their daily business. Hence, these local mom-and-pop stores are going pretty strong currently.
With 100-200 transactions a day on average, there are around 12 million kirana stores in the country. However, no company so far has been able to capture these millions of transactions.
Doing brisk business otherwise, in 2016, IITian Samarth Agarwal, who used to trade stocks on the BSE and NSE, felt technology was missing at his neighbourhood kirana.
Also, putting them in a spot of bother, local neighbourhood stores have found it hard to match the attractive discounts put out by capitalist-funded online players.
Hence, there is a big question about whether they would jump onto the online wagon or continue using the age-old offline channel and also transitioning towards digital platform will offer local kiranas to be abreast of the current digital transition.
