HERE Technologies, a prominent location data and technology platform, has recently announced that it is partnering with PSA Singapore (PSA). PSA is the world's largest transshipment hub known for its exceptional connectivity. Together, they plan to revolutionize Singapore's container truck ecosystem and optimize the transportation of goods across the ports.
Singapore has established itself as the leading maritime hub in the world. The Port of Singapore, which is the second busiest container port in the world in terms of volume, contributes to this success. To maintain global connectivity, PSA is connected to over 600 ports worldwide. Last year, it handled 38.8 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs).
To maximize truck resource utilization and eliminate operational inefficiencies for Singapore’s container trucking community, PSA has developed OptETruck, a cloud-based transport management solution with features like automated scheduling and asset pooling for truck drivers, as per HERE Europe.
OptETruck, powered by HERE Tour Planning and Location Services, is a system that assigns jobs to truck drivers based on their location. It optimizes routes and truck assignments in real-time, minimizing empty runs and allocating jobs in proximity to the driver's current location. This leads to improved transit and waiting times, better well-being for drivers, and increased operational efficiency while also reducing carbon emissions.
Kushal Rajveer, Head of Supply Chain for Asia-Pacific at HERE Technologies said, “Working closely with the Digital Transformation arm of PSA, we designed a solution that utilizes location technology to address the specific challenges of the container truck ecosystem around the Port of Singapore. We’re pleased with the results from early adopters of the OptETruck, which has given PSA confidence to onboard more than 50 percent of container trucks entering and exiting Singapore’s ports by end of this year.”
