According to a new IBM-commissioned study, 59% of enterprise-scale organizations in India with more than 1,000 employees surveyed actively employ artificial intelligence (AI). The 'IBM Worldwide Artificial Intelligence Adoption Index 2023 viewed that 74% of those Indian ventures are currently working with AI, having advanced their funding in AI in the past two years in regions like Research and development (innovative work) and labor force reskilling.

At least 67% of companies invest in R&D, 55% in reskilling/ workforce development, and 53% of firms build proprietary AI solutions, as per ET.

Among overviewed organizations in India, AI is now affecting the labor force, and 46% are preparing or reskilling representatives to cooperate with new automation and AI tools. In the interim, recruiting representatives with the right ranges of abilities and moral worries remain difficult for AI adoption, according to the study report led by Morning Consult on behalf of IBM.

“The increase in AI adoption and investments by Indian enterprises is a good indicator that they are already experiencing the benefits from AI. However, there is still a significant opportunity to accelerate as many businesses are hesitant to move beyond experimentation and deploy AI at scale,” said Sandip Patel, Managing Director, IBM India & South Asia.

“To harness its full potential in the coming months, data and AI governance tools are going to be critical for building AI models responsibly that enterprises can trust and confidently adopt. Without the use of governance tools, AI can expose companies to data privacy issues, legal complications, and ethical dilemmas – cases of which we have already seen plaguing many across the world,” he added.
