To further the value chain of Xiaomi devices, the domestic electronics giant would also look into creating a component ecosystem through its fully owned subsidiaries.
By August or September, Dixon hopes to begin producing Xiaomi smartphones at a new 320,000 square foot Noida plant that is now being set up.
"This partnership will leverage Dixon’s manufacturing excellence & superior execution track record & Xiaomi expertise & leadership in Indian business ecosystem & it represents a major milestone in Indian governments “Make in India” initiative," said Atul B. Lall, vice chairman and managing director, Dixon Technologies.
The government has previously urged Chinese handset producers to collaborate with domestic producers in India to strengthen the supply chain and take advantage of the production-linked incentive program.
The Chinese company Xiaomi Corporation, also referred to as Xiaomi and officially registered as Xiaomi Inc., is a designer and producer of consumer electronics, home appliances, and other household goods. The firm is rated 338th and is the youngest company on the Fortune Global 500. It is the second-largest smartphone maker in the world after Huawei, with the majority of its devices running on the MIUI User interface, which is based on the Android operating system.
