Digital Domain India to add Virtual Reality Team; Announces VR Hackathon to Find Back-end and Unity Developers

Digital Domain India, located in Hyderabad, is expanding to include a virtual reality (VR) team, and kicked off the announcement with a VR Hackathon. The VR Hackathon will be held on March 10 and 11, and is designed to seek out the best Backend, Unity and developer talent in Hyderabad. The event will test the skills and open the door to an exciting career opportunity.

The primary idea behind the Digital Domain India (DDI) VR Hackathon is to spread awareness about the enormous career opportunities and to attract talent from other industries mainly the developer community, including Full Stack Developers (Back-end Developers) and Unity Developers. 

The registration to participate is absolutely free of cost. Participants at the VR Hackathon will learn more about the creative work done by Digital Domain India, and winners will take away a  cash prize plus attractive goodies, and may also land in a lucrative VR position at Digital Domain Hyderabad facility.

To enter the competition, developers will have to first go through an eligibility test. Qualifying candidates will get to compete the final coding challenge. Depending on the coding challenge, the duration of the VR Hackathon will be 24 - 48 hours.

The Digital Domain VR Platform is a broadcast-grade solution for distributing live and pre-rendered 360 experiences to audiences worldwide across movie devices, HMDs and desktops. Built for scale, this cloud-based platform combines tools for managing and enriching content with a set of white-labelled apps and SDKs to give the widest reach. The platform allows for live streaming video or delivering video clips, tailoring VR destinations to brands without any coding, embedding 360 experiences directly into existing movie and web apps, monetizing with ads. All to leverage VR to the best of its potential.

Heads of the respective functions from Digital Domain will travel from Los Angeles to Hyderabad, to judge, evaluate and declare the winners. Mentors from DDI will also be available during the Hackathon with preset evaluation parameters to guide and support participants.

DD Hyderabad Studio is Digital Domain’s 5th global studio and first facility in India that began production in Hyderabad on November 2017.  The 42,000 sq ft facility built initially with an $5 million investment in Hyderabad’s IT special economic zone was established with a strong focus on building local and global content especially feature and short films. It is tightly integrated with Digital Domain creative HQ in LA.
