The technology industry in India is set for a major change, as companies intensify their focus on diversity and inclusion, opening doors for an increased number of women to enter the nation's tech workforce. By 2027, women are expected to make up 14.9 percent of India's technology workforce, a significant increase from 10.8 percent in 2022, according to TeamLease Digital.

The projected annual growth rate of 5.5 percent indicates not just a demographic change, but also an essential chance to narrow the gender gap in one of the globe's rapidly expanding sectors. At present, 1.92 million women are part of India’s technology workforce, and this figure is expected to grow swiftly in the coming three years.

The emergence of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) is a significant factor contributing to this expansion, with forecasts suggesting that women will make up 35 percent of the workforce in these innovation centers by 2027.

With firms making significant investments in innovation and digital transformation, the need for qualified workers is rising sharply. For women looking to establish their presence in technology, prospects in rapidly expanding fields are increasing at an unmatched speed.

The business landscape of tomorrow is centered around data, and women are embracing roles as data scientists, data analysts, and machine learning engineers. As companies grow more dependent on data-oriented strategies, these positions provide women the opportunity to lead innovation via predictive analytics, deep learning, and business intelligence. The capability to derive insights from large datasets has rendered these roles some of the most desirable in India’s technology sector.
