GlobalLogic, a US-based digital transformation provider, stated that it is generating relevant use cases across numerous sectors and will co-innovate with Indian entrepreneurs in order to enable telecom providers to monetise their next generation or 5G networks.

"We are building those use cases whether it is logistics or aviation, on how do telecom operators raise private 5G to automate and encash on the network," Vikram Puranik, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Head of Consumer - Communications and Media at GlobalLogic (India & APAC) told ETTelecom.

In 2021, Japanese industrial and electronic conglomerate Hitachi group acquired GlobalLogic for $9.6 billion to strengthen its digital portfolio across IT, mobility and energy verticals worldwide, as per economic times

Puranik went on to say that while telecoms have invested in 5G networks, they have not monetised them using the traditional B2C (business-to-consumer) approach. As a result, the model must now change from B2C to B2B (business-to-business), and private 5G is a crucial entry point for them.

GlobalLogic is developing a variety of 5G applications, including luggage tracking at airports, to help airlines improve passenger operations.

According to him, low latency and high dependability are critical in mobility-related industries such as rail and road transportation, where telecom service providers should consider using private 5G network deployments.

Early next year, the Hitachi group firm plans to host a showcase in which India's startup ecosystem will present 5G-centric innovation and appealing monetisation use cases in order to further promote their solutions.

As per senior executive, one aspect of interacting with Indian entrepreneurs on the 5G landscape would be to co-innovate with them and bring some of the learnings to the group's worldwide clientele.
