Enterprise technology changes are the driving force behind transformations in the economy and in how businesses operate in almost every sector. The cost of introducing new features and whole business processes has been drastically reduced with the move to the cloud and software-as-a-service.

Microservices and application programming interfaces (APIs) have accelerated the deployment of new technologies, and artificial intelligence is now controlling a wider range of business choices. Large data sets can now be collected and analysed, which helps businesses gain a better knowledge of their consumers and spot chances to enhance their goods and services.

Technology-savvy executives have been able to outperform less smart competitors by using these technologies at scale across the core of their firms. Customers undoubtedly contribute to moving businesses toward this technological edge, as many now like utilizing digital platforms over dealing with real people. Let's now examine the top three enterprise technology trends for 2023 that will significantly affect the sector.

Intelligent Automation on a rise

Automation software is especially tempting in tough times since it allows firms to accomplish more with fewer personnel. The newest intelligent automation software incorporates artificial intelligence capabilities to deliver outstanding results.

For instance, a business with operations in Vietnam, Central Retail, recently invested in a creative automation solution to help the company's invoice-matching process operate more efficiently. The company, which includes 260 firms and 38 malls, must process more than 1.8 million bills yearly. It was able to automate 75% of that effort with the new solution, saving the company 90,000 hours annually and US$500,000 over the course of five years.

According to Forrester, "Those that have the fortitude to adapt to 2023's reality while doubling down on automation to gain overwhelming competitive advantage will reap the rewards of their efforts."

DevOps to help organizations be more efficient

Another significant trend, DevOps approaches, is strongly related to automation. DevOps is a mentality that enables IT businesses to become more successful and efficient, not a specific technology.

It encourages tighter cooperation between developers and operations staff by implementing Agile development concepts in IT operations. It uses cloud computing, containerization, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and automation technologies (especially use of Kubernetes).

Businesses that use DevOps are frequently able to launch new projects more rapidly and are more responsive to their consumers. In one instance, the biggest IT company in Vietnam, FPT Software, assisted a major Korean e-commerce company in modernising and standardising its toolchain. The store now offers its consumers unique shopping experiences, and its extremely effective DevOps deployment methods have allowed it to generate more than US$5.1 billion in sales.

Rise of Metaverse

The "metaverse" is a new virtual environment made possible by the development of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). Metaverse enables users to mimic or improve their physical activities, according to Gartner. This might be achieved by transferring or expanding real-world activities into virtual ones, or by altering the real world.

Famously supporting the idea of the metaverse, Facebook even changed the name of their business to Meta. However, other businesses have been sluggish to follow suit thus far.

Companies are starting to realize that things will never be quite the same again since the epidemic affected the way people worked and purchased. They are setting up shops or offices in the metaverse utilizing software like akaVerse.

This may develop into a big fad. In fact, fully virtual workspaces will "reimagine" the office experience until 2027, according to Gartner, accounting for 30% of the growth in business investments in metaverse technology.

A Digitalized Future

In 2023, many businesses that just started digital transformation programmes will see their activities continue and develop. Several industry analysts predict that in 2023, attempts to restructure the digital economy will be more pragmatic, effective, and large-scale.

For instance, IDC notes that organizations are shifting "from technological investment plans for digital transformation to focused on operating digital enterprises." The top 5 firms in each industry by 2024 will be those that innovated their way out of a global catastrophe like a recession or supply chain interruption, according to the report.

Looking forward, new enterprise technologies like metaverse, automation and DevOps, will be a key enabler of digitally led operations and help the organizations across the world in attaining sustainable growth in an ever evolving world.
