SERPRO is the Brazilian government's top technology partner, in charge of providing the digital solutions for over 90% of the country's federal administration. In a bid to accelerate the adoption of blockchain across Latin America, Cardano and SERPRO professed they could help each other.

Innovation and blockchain education, together with digital infrastructure integration across the public sector, are among the key focus areas of cooperation. With Cardano's blockchain technology and SERPRO's structure and expertise in public administration, the government will drive the adoption of blockchain technological advancements.

“This partnership represents a significant step forward in bringing blockchain technology to the heart of public sector innovation,” said Alexandre Gonçalves de Amorim, director-president of SERPRO.

“By combining SERPRO’s extensive public sector expertise with Cardano’s blockchain infrastructure, we’re positioning Brazil at the forefront of digital government transformation.”

Frederik Gregaard, the chief executive officer of Cardano Foundation, noted that teaming up with the government is a significant step. Other than helping to modernize Brazil’s public sector via blockchain technology, integration also means enhanced transparency and improved service delivery.

In December 2023, the partnership with Petrobras, the state-owned oil giant of Brazil, served as a forerunner to this cooperation with SERPRO. The tie-in of the two companies was also among others to big up the blockchain integration and adoption through activities of the Cardano Academy.
