SJVN Ltd, a state-owned power company, announced a deal with Solar Energy Corporation of India to deliver 200 MW of wind power. SJVN Chairman & Managing Director Nand Lal Sharma said in a statement that the company has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI) for a 200 MW grid-connected wind power project.
Sharma informed that SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL) -- its wholly-owned subsidiary -- had participated in the tariff-based competitive bidding process conducted by SECI for the selection of wind power developers for setting up 1,200 MW grid-connected wind power projects anywhere in India. SGEL bagged 200 mw at a tariff of Rs 3.24 per unit on a build-own and operate (BOO) basis in an open competitive tariff bidding process, as per economic times.
He further stated that the 200 MW wind farm will be created by SGEL anywhere in India under an EPC contract. With the addition of this project, SJVN's wind portfolio currently totals 497.6 MW.
Two projects with a total capacity of 97.6 MW are now operational, while the remaining three projects with a total capacity of 400 MW are in various phases of construction. Sharma mentioned that the estimated cost of developing this project is Rs 1,400 crore.
The project is scheduled to generate 482 million units in the first year following commissioning, with a total projected energy output of 12,050 million units during a 25-year period. The project will be completed by November 2025, or within 24 months of the PPA's effective date.
