Cabinet Nods an Outlay of Rs 14,903 Crore To develop the Digital India Program

The government's flagship Digital India program would be extended for an additional five years, from FY2021–22 to FY2025-26, with funding totaling Rs 14,903 crore. The expansion has kept cybersecurity as a top priority, and this includes developing the capabilities of the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team. 5.25 lakh IT workers will receive upskilling as part of the expansion, and 2.65 lakh people will receive cybersecurity training. According to IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the mobile-based Umang application would receive 540 more services, up from its current 1,700.

1,200 start-ups in tier 2 and tier 3 cities will also receive some of the total investment as funding. 12 crore people will receive certificates after completing a cybersecurity awareness program, which will be launched.

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) will now have access to the government's DigiLocker platform, which enables access to digital versions of a variety of documents, including drivers licenses and vehicle registration certificates, as a standalone app, allowing these entities to get their documents digitally verified.

Nine additional supercomputers will be deployed as part of the National Supercomputing Mission, bringing the total to 18 supercomputers. Additionally, three centers of excellence for research on the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare, agriculture, and sustainable living will be established.
