One of the major information technology hub, Infosys, on Tuesday, announced its partnership with the United Kingdom-based charity, Ellen MacArthur Foundation Charity. Infosys said that it is planning to work in collaboration with Ellen MacArthur Foundation for boosting the global transition to a circular economy.

This circular economy offers an alternative to the linear ‘take, make, waste’ economy – which is better for the people, economy, and the environment. Based on the three key principles, the circular economy is to design waste out of the system, keep products and materials in use, and regenerate natural systems.

Working with its network of Strategic Partners, Partners, and Members, Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s network includes some of the world’s leading and most influential organizations, which include businesses, governments, educators, innovators, and investors for driving systemic change.

Infosys and Ellen MacArthur’s collaboration coincides with the launch of the strategic Sustainable Business Unit within Infosys, which will grant customers the betterment in the incorporation of circular designs into their products, services and supply chains.

A released statement said, "Infosys will bestow focus on aligning its digital transformation toolkit – Live Enterprise Suite – with the Foundation’s circular economy performance measurement tool, Circulytics.”

The statement further added, “Enabling companies in measuring their circular economy performance, Circulytics identify opportunities for adoption, or further embed, circular practices, thereby driving the transition towards circular economy.”

James George, Network Development Lead, Ellen MacArthur Foundation said, “Being a global leader in the next-gen digital platforms, Infosys will bring a caliber of expertise and knowledge for further helping the Network to realize its digital ambition, and which will also support the transition towards a circular economy.”

By reuse and repurposing customers’ existing technology stack, Infosys will successfully achieve circular design of products, services and supply chains quickly, and not by replacing them, stated in the statement.

Infosys Head of Sustainable Business Cory Glickman said, "Infosys believes there is a symbiotic relationship between digitization and sustainability and through aligned strategies and clever design — particularly on circularity — you can achieve both, with just one pocket of spending,"
