To speed the Seattle-based technology giant's cloud and artificial intelligence drive in the nation, newly recruited Microsoft India president Puneet Chandok has set a goal of 100 client meetings in three months.

“The plan in the next 90 days is to do 100 boardroom conversations with top enterprises in India and demystify AI,” Chandok added in his first media interview after joining the company in September. He added that he had already met 100 customers over the last 100 days.

“The statement of purpose is to unlock AI for India and South Asia's potential,” Chandok said, adding that India is one of the most crucial markets for Microsoft. This depends on Microsoft’s ability to bring its portfolio together to drive customers’ digital transformation and move fast on AI to meet their needs, he said.

He stated that ensuring 'AI fluency' is the primary goal, and that Microsoft is working to simplify AI for customers in order to increase adoption. According to Chandok, the goal is to clear up any confusion around AI, and Microsoft's approach is to take use cases by industry to bring clients on board the AI journey, as per economic times

Simultaneously, work on cloud and data remains critical since AI cannot be utilized unless both are in place, he noted. Microsoft will also collaborate with the government to train 3 million government officers in AI fluency in India by 2024, he said.

As per Chandok, AI adoption in India is three-pronged. The first part addresses productivity use cases in industries such as manufacturing, finance, service organizations, and internet businesses. Second, by using AI infrastructure, large language models (LLMs) focused on India's language, culture, and context will be built.
