The pioneer in whole-person virtual care, Teladoc Health, has announced that it would work with Microsoft to incorporate its Azure OpenAI Service, Azure Cognitive Services, and Nuance Dragon Ambient eXperience into its Teladoc Health Solo platform. This will be the latest step in their ongoing partnership. The integrated solutions will assist reduce the workload on the healthcare workers while enhancing the standard of shared medical information and the care it supports by automating the compilation of clinical documentation during virtual exams. For care visits delivered directly by Teladoc Health, the Teladoc Health Medical Group also intends to employ Nuance DAX Express.

“Administrative burden and staff shortages are major reasons why clinicians are leaving the profession,” said Dr. Vidya Raman-Tangella, chief medical officer at Teladoc Health. “We are focused on using AI to reassert and build the doctor-patient relationship at a time when technology frequently does the opposite. We are proud to partner with Microsoft and Nuance to break new ground.”

90,000 physicians will be needed nationwide by 2025, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and this shortfall will be exacerbated by professional burnout brought on by the demands of electronic paperwork. The American Medical Association estimates that for every hour of patient care, doctors spend two hours on administrative work.

Partnering with hospitals and health systems for a long time, Teladoc Health is dedicated to assisting organizations in reducing workforce burden and enhancing patient care, especially with increased accessibility and hybrid workflows like virtual nursing, which allows skilled remote nursing staff to carry out nursing duties without the need for physical contact.  This allows bedside nurses to concentrate on providing direct patient care and raising staff morale.
