Tata Communications announced a digital transformation contract with Tata Motors-owned British manufacturer JLR. The agreement will fuel the production of JLR's next-generation vehicles, a major component of its Reimagine plan, as well as providing the connectivity basis for the company's next phase of digital transformation.

Tata Communications has already commenced implementation of the network transformation program and will complete the deployment by 2025, as per economic times.

Earlier in September, Tata Consultancy Services struck a partnership with JLR's Digital subsidiary worth £800 million over the next five years to support JLR's Rimagine plan.

Tata Communications will implement its cloud-first, software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) technology to connect all of JLR's 128 locations throughout the world. This globally connected capability will improve supply chain efficiency and security by connecting JLR's worldwide headquarters to its plants, warehouses, sales centers, data centers, and cloud services.

JLR will be able to increase production line performance by incorporating AI-powered and real-time data capture, monitoring, and analysis as a result of the transition.

The carmaker will be able to recognize potential abnormalities more effectively using predictive risk management rules, driving economies while also ensuring vehicle quality build. Furthermore, according to Tata Communications, this collaboration will drastically reduce the time required to modernize manufacturing processes, boost operational resilience, and increase agility to meet production demands. JLR anticipates considerable cost reductions, as well as business benefits from scale and security.

“Moving to SD-WAN means we can use AI-powered automation to predict vulnerabilities, proactively intervene, prevent issues, and perform more effectively on a global scale across our network. The cutting-edge connectivity platform will help us build the world-class ecosystem we need to deliver modern luxury vehicles and remarkable driving experiences,” said JLR’s group chief digital and information officer, Tony Battle.
