Bangalore: The industry leader in networking solutions and services, Brocade (NASDAQ: BRCD), has released the Phase I of a multiyear strategy named ‘Brocade Vyatta Platform’. The service brings out the open and modular networking platform for cloud and telecommunications service providers.
Founded in 1995, Brocade is extending its proven data center expertise across the entire network with future-proofed solutions. With the current market cap of $3.96 billion, this California based company caters to varied industries and customers across 160 countries. Brocade stand out as a unique company through its proven track record of expertise, innovation and new technology development and Brocade Vyatta Platform is the new added technology in the same list of innovations.
Brocade Vyatta Platform is packed up with Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and emerging Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technologies which are based on open standards and open source dynamism. The new platform is mechanized by Brocade Vyatta vRouter and Brocade vADX products and on the like established core units along with OpenDaylight, OpenStack and similar open source software projects.
The Brocade Vyatta Platform is built up in three core layers- NFV Connection Services, SDN Structural Services and Functional Orchestration, each having its own unparalleled benefits. NFV Connection series help to deploy layer 3-7 network functionality with the Brocade Vyatta vRouter and the Brocade vADX products along with service chains including third-party elements. SDN Structural Services enable advancements of the multivendor OpenDaylight Project for the simplification of management. Functional Orchestration implements capabilities from OpenStack and widely interoperable third-party provisioning and orchestration layers. Thus three layers categorizes themselves as the core elements of the device and communication between the layers utilizes transparent standards-based protocols and methods such as REST APIs and the NETCONF/YANG model, guaranteeing the configuration interoperability. In addition, the new mechanism is claimed to be the industry’s first articulation of this open strategy.
“The growing complexity of today’s virtualized networks has made it no longer feasible to rely on a single vendor to deliver an end-to-end solution that fits every customer’s requirements of service agility and scalability,” says Edgar Dias, Regional Director, India at Brocade. “The Brocade Vyatta Platform is the industry’s first truly open platform to embrace a growing vendor ecosystem dedicated to open standards and open source projects for cloud and teleco-providers seeking software-based solutions to achieve new revenue streams and regain control over their networks”. He adds, “Where individual SDN and NFV technologies will address specific problems, the platform approach will accelerate the full realization of a modern network model. Furthermore, in working with industry partners we will continue to build out the Brocade Vyatta Platform to advance interoperability and ensure the platform is carrier-grade”.
