Ericsson, Nokia, Qualcomm, Cisco & BSNL Train Students in 5G, AI

• Ericsson, Nokia, Qualcomm, and Cisco signed MoUs with BRBRAITT for advanced telecom training.

Swedish telecom giant Ericsson, Finnish Nokia, Qualcomm Research & Technologies, and American vendor Cisco have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Bharat Ratna Bhim Rao Ambedkar Institute of Telecom Training (BRBRAITT), a premier BSNL institute in Jabalpur.

Signed in the presence of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and DoT Secretary Neeraj Mittal, the agreements aim to train engineering students in 5G, IoT, AI/ML, networking, and cybersecurity. This initiative supports the DoT’s plan to establish a Telecom Innovation Research and Training Centre (TIRTC) at BRBRAITT, fostering telecom-specific R&D, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Scindia emphasized the initiative’s role in youth empowerment, stating on X, “BSNL has signed MoUs with Ericsson, Qualcomm, Cisco, and Nokia to train the youth in 5G, AI/ML, networking & more, empowering them to drive India’s digital transformation and Atmanirbhar Bharat.” The programs will create a future-ready workforce for India’s digital growth.

Ericsson will train 2,200 students annually at its 5G Center of Excellence, offering hands-on 5G training and Ericsson Educate modules. Nitin Bansal, Managing Director of Ericsson India, highlighted its role in building a skilled talent pool. Nokia’s 5G Centre of Excellence and AI/ML Lab will train 300 students yearly, providing joint certifications with BRBRAITT and TSSC.

The Institute of Qualcomm will provide 5G and AI education, and it will initially sponsor 100 attendees with internship programs. Cisco will offer the Networking Academy free of cost network and cybersecurity curriculum, implemented in all parts of the country through BSNL.
