South Korea has unveiled a bold blueprint involving 30 major AI and deep-technology initiatives aimed at reinvigorating its slowing economy. Central to this plan are 15 AI-centered projects that span smart manufacturing, autonomous systems, futuristic appliances, drones, and public sector modernization.

These initiatives include humanoid robots for logistics and manufacturing, autonomous vehicles and ships, AI-powered home appliances, and drones for firefighting and agriculture each designed to embed intelligent systems across industries. Additionally, efforts will support the development of AI semiconductors to facilitate efficient on-device computing. AI will optimize welfare delivery in the public sector, automate tax compliance, and accelerate drug approvals via AI screening systems.

This initiative aligns with broader economic policies unveiled under President Lee Jae-Myung’s administration, which aim to harness AI as the primary engine for growth amid demographic challenges and global trade headwinds. Policymakers anticipate these measures will help elevate South Korea’s potential growth rate and secure its position as an AI powerhouse.
