India and South Korea vowed to deepen their Special Strategic Partnership, focusing on high-tech sectors. In New Delhi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun discussed advancing cooperation in semiconductors, AI, clean energy, shipbuilding, and defense.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that both ministers agreed to set new “industrial ambitions” in these areas, while also reviewing progress in political, security, trade, and economic, technological, and people-to-people domains.
Jaishankar noted in a social media post, “ We held productive discussions on advancing our bilateral cooperation in trade, manufacturing, maritime and people-to-people exchanges as well as new opportunities in AI, semiconductors, clean energy and defense.”
The ministers also exchanged their views on Indo-Pacific and general issues, with the emphasis on the reinforcement of common democratic values and mutual trust. Jaishankar expressed his gratitude to South Korea in condemning the April 22, 2025, terror attack in Pahalgam and in Indian parliamentary delegation after Operation Sindoor.

The talks, held a day after both nations’ National Days, highlighted the strong bilateral relationship. Jaishankar remarked, “You have been barely a month in the job (as the foreign minister), the fact that you are here literally a day after your National Day, and our National Day, says a lot really about the value we attach to the relationship.” The MEA emphasized the partnership’s 10th anniversary, rooted in shared economic interests and commitment to regional stability.
